Go Camo Chic

Hey, ladies!  Until just recently, I would have said, “Me in camo, what do you think I am, a redneck?” LOL!  Right?  Well, true and false…. it all depends on what type of camo print you pick, the style of the garment and the color pattern of the camo.  This is way out of the box for me, but I like it when it is done in a feminine chic manner.  When styled properly, it really doesn’t scream “camo”, but presents itself as just another printed pattern palette.  Let’s have some fun with camo!

50 With Flair, Over 50 Fashion, Gray Camo, Black Old Navy Jeans, Black Ankle Boot, white statement necklace and earrings, Camo Chic

Gray is not my best color, but with darker and lighter tones mixed into this pattern, it works as a fashionable and flattering print.  If you do not like yourself in a particular color,  just add in an accessory jewelry piece, scarf or jacket in a comfortable color and you will see that it does begin to work with your coloring and style.

I paired this tunic length knit top with a simple pair of comfortable black leggings, the VIV leggings from Amazon are fabulous and affordable, great for everyday wear as well as workouts — all sizes, many color choices.  The black ankle boots dress up the lower half of the oufit, while the white statement necklace and earrings feminize the upper part of the outfit.

These leggings have a smooth, high waistband and not see-through, I ordered up one size, but could have worn my actual size for less length because I am short – I will be ordering more colors, easy wash and wear!

Bringing the Camo Look Together

The keyword here is “feminine” for camo, accessories do make the difference.  I think the stigma with camo is that your accessory must be a rifle on your shoulder to go hunting for your dinner, LOL.  This does not have to be the case when you accessorize for a soft chic look.

You know how I love my Fitbit with my upgraded animal print band.  I left it on with this outfit because it is subtle and I do not always like a “matchy-matchy” look.  Shopping links are here and below the next few photos…

Camo Chic Styling

I love the rounded, longer hemline on this knit tunic.  Once again, I found a great selection of tops on Amazon and this one is no exception.  I did go up one size because I wanted to make sure there was plenty of length and nothing too snug around my “fuller” areas.  The shopping link for this top is HERE and below:

My ankle boots are older and by Lifestride.  I did find a similar Lifestride black ankle boot on Amazon for you HERE and below:

Feminize Camo with Accessories

Whoa!  I do not like close-ups, Mr. DeMille, LOL!  But I did want you to see how this floral statement necklace softens the look of the camo, plus with it and the earrings being white, it further softens and brightens the camo for a more feminine feel.   The Amazon shopping links for the necklace and earrings are HERE and HERE, as well as below:

The camo look becomes a touch more casual and comfortable just by changing the shoes to black loafers as I have done below.  Mine are older Clarks and are very comfortable.  I found a very similar pair for you HERE and below on Amazon:

Break out of your comfort zone and try some camo!  You will be surprised at how much you enjoy it, let me know what you think.

  1. Camo’s not really my “thing” but it looks lovely on you. I saw Jodie from Jodie’s Touch of Style do a camo post a while ago and it was interesting to see how you can make something work. You certainly look a lot prettier than the Duck Dynasty guys do in their camo outfits 🙂

Thanks, Leanne! You never know until you try, I said no also before I found the right one worn the right way. Duck Dynasty is the ultimate redneck, ha! Thanks for the compliment? But hey, it made them rich and famous, LOL. Thanks for visiting! 🙂

Looks awesome! I never ever thought I would wear camo either until I came across a shirt that caught my eye.., I sized up and wear it as a fitted jacket, I love it…..totally out of my comfort zone for sure, but I love how it looks with jeans. Your definitely right, throw on some pretty jewelery and it makes a person look like a classy redneck! Haha!

Good for you, Kathy! And I like your term “classy redneck”, who ever thought those two words would ever go together and actually look good! LOL! Thanks for always visiting and sharing, fun!

  3. You wear it well Lori Jo, but I’m not that much of a fan, like Leanne above has said. It does suit some people and I know it can be more feminine but I’m not that into camo or leopard print for that matter. Everyone has their likes and dislikes don’t they??

It’s all about trying new things, no style ruts! I locked myself into “can’ts” and “cans” for years, nothing to lose by trying. If it really doesn’t work and makes you unhappy, full refund, yay!

  4. Doesn’t matter the age we like to look good. Love the outfit and would be comfortable to wear.

Absolutely! No style ruts, so fun to trying new things, thanks for visiting, Candy! 🙂

  5. Lori Jo, I really like how you have paired the cameo with those pretty earrings and necklace. It takes the piece from traditionally masculine to soft and feminine.

Thanks for visiting the post, Mary! A new spin on something out-of-the-box is refreshing, no style ruts – glad you enjoyed it 🙂

Awww, thank you, Maria! It is easily done. I really enjoy sharing how we can continue to dress more youthful and still be age appropriate, no style ruts! Thanks so much for visiting 😀
