When Life Creates Friction
Tim and I are about to go on an end-of-the-summer long weekend vacation this coming weekend. Upon return, I am taking two weeks off from blogging to organize the site and do some techy stuff behind the scenes. Since this is my departing post, I wanted to leave you with a post about a sensitive issue that you may also be experiencing…..
……..That issue is “Friction”.
When Friction Creates Sadness
You may recall that I turned 58 back in August. It seems that every year since I turned 50, there has been a new issue to deal with every single year. Each issue has been overcome, or I have accepted the new “thing” as part of how life will be from now on. But never in my wildest dreams did I expect “friction”. I try my best to do all the right things, practice healthy clean habits, keep my cool and not let things rub me the wrong way, don’t put a damper on things and stay far away from friction-causing situations to keep comfort in my life…. then lo and behold, I am slammed with unexpected friction.
When Friction Creates Pain
With shock and awe on the morning that I recognized that I had become a victim of friction, I started my overthinking process. What did I do wrong? Why was this happening to me? What did I do to deserve this? It was kind of sad to think that I had come this far in life to be presented with this new issue that I had never had to deal with ever before. Then, after a couple of weeks of feeling very uncomfortable, a simple solution appeared to me, seemingly right out of thin air………
BOOM! A Remedy for Friction
GOTCHA!!! What did you think I was talking about? Continue reading…..

…..I hope you find some humor in an actual issue I dealt with this super duper hot summer here in Georgia! I will not go into explicit detail, but I can tell you that my skin has now become more sensitive, in all areas of my body, now that I am deep into my 50s. And, it is good to know that I am not the only one, so praise the Lord for the inventor of this pink powder, the label is hilarious to me and makes me laugh every time I use it right after my shower and if I need a “touch up” throughout the day.
It really does work very well and is a great preventative with cooling and effective healing relief. This powder is talc-free and is an anti-friction dampness absorber. It is a satin smooth cornstarch base that also contains calamine (as in calamine lotion) as a drying, healing ingredient. Whether or not you are active or inactive, do yourself a favor and keep a bottle of this on hand, you will thank me!
I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed writing it to provide you with entertainment and information. I’m off to have a banana now, ha!

Hahahahahaaaa! So glad you “got it” and had a chuckle. I have plans to eventually write and publish fun women’s fiction. This is good practice 🙂 I appreciate your visits and support.

Hi Lori Jo! I love your outlook on life and you certainly brought a smile to my face. I’m off the blog for the next two weeks as we are cruising around Japan. Taking a break is just what I need at the moment and hopefully I will return feeling invigorated and raring to go. Enjoy your long weekend. xx
So glad you got my humor leading into the “topic”, why not laugh at it and then carry on, ha! Have a wonderful trip, I look forward to your travel log afterwards. Safe travels!

Well that wasn’t what I was expecting at all Lori Jo! Glad you found some relief and that it gives you a smile each time you use it. (I also thought to myself “only in America!”) It’s funny the things that start to impact on us in Midlife – I guess friction is one I can add to my ‘watch out for this’ list 🙂
Haha! I have decided that the majority of things are laughable, why not?! The product label is so funny to me, it provided a fun writing prompt. As far as America goes, there are always other types of friction happening that could use a good drying out, oh well, such is life. Thanks for visiting 🙂

You had me going there for a minute, but as soon as I saw the bottle I knew exactly what you were talking about! I may have to give this little monkey a try 🙂
Glad you got my humor, ha! And, yes, the little monkey is a helpful pal to have 🙂 Thanks for visiting!
Lori Jo
LOL! Love this post, and I’m sure most of us over fifty gals can relate!
Glad you “got it”, ha! This part of life is still full of surprises and unexpected things, some good and some not, so I keep fixing rhe “not” and keep rolling along. Thanks for visiting 🙂
Lori Jo
Never knew this existed! I play tennis and this would come in handy! lol
Yes, it is a must-have! I am very active and so glad I gave this a try. It is fun to laugh at it, but it is no fun to have a monkey on your back, so to speak, haha! Thanks for visiting 🙂
Lori Jo
This was very funny… but super helpful! Pinning to my Self-care board!
Haha! Nothing better than funny and helpful, right? I plan to publish humorous women’s fiction very soon, I scare myself with it, but why not! Thanks for visiting 🙂
Lori Jo
Well I sure did wonder where this was going! Anti Monkey butt… well, I never! LOL

Haha! Didn’t it start out so dreaded seriously? Hope it was helpful as well as entertaining, thanks for visiting!

I appreciate your sense of humor in dealing with one of the many issues of being women in our 50’s. I will have to keep this info ready for I start having that issue.
At this point in life, I take as much as possible lightly, have been through some big things with probably a few more yet to come! Glad you caught the humor and also found the info useful. Thanks for visiting 🙂

I busted out laughing, Lori Jo, when I saw where you were going with this post! I kept thinking maybe you and your hubby had never had an argument, ever, before now… Lol!!! That’s where my head went. 😉 Too funny! Wasn’t quite sure where to pin this, but put it under my Ethereal Beautiful You. What the heck!
Best wishes getting your blog reorganized,
Barb 🙂
Hahaha! So glad, that was the point, to make you laugh! I am also in the very early stages of writing humorous womens fiction, a dream of mine to be published. I probably need to make a Pinterest board for “clean scatalogical humor”, quirky and offbeat is fun. And, hubby and I do butt heads, often in fact, but it’s gone in an instant. Glad you enjoyed the post! p.s. there is a monkey powder for men too, ha! 🙂

Very funny, Lori Jo! The aging process is definitely a challenging one, and humor is a great way to handle the frustrations. Thanks for sharing your tip and your positive approach to “friction” — in all of its various forms. Thanks also for stopping by my blog. 😉
Glad you enjoyed it, Julia! “Words” are my thing, I am now subscribed to your blog, so glad I found it! Thanks for commenting and visiting 🙂

Well, this gave me a good laugh when I got to the money butt. I hit 53 this year and I hate this getting older. It never bothered me until I turned 50.
Hey, Kristi! Glad you “got it”, ha! And, hey, your typo of “money” butt instead of “monkey”, cracks me up, oops there goes another pun on top of things, haha! Like I said, I swear there has been something new every year since I turned 50, you never know what you may wake up to each day! Thanks so much for the comment and visit 🙂
