Mustard Yellow Tailored for the Office

I hope you are enjoying this multi-day series on wearing mustard yellow for Fall with several different options!  If you missed the beginning of the series, you can read the Day #1 post of the series HERE, Day #2 post of the series HERE, and Day #3 post of the series HERE.

As a refresher, the looks are built around this comfortable, easy-to-wear mustard yellow blouse from Amazon, shopping link below:

Today’s look is a tailored chic version with the mustard yellow blouse that would be office appropriate.  Basic black dress pants and simple accessories with the comfortable wedge heel gladiator sandal keep the look sophisticated and not overdone.  Shopping links for the reader pendant in silver and gold tones below:

The black pants are by Ellen Tracy and are a nice anchor piece with mustard yellow. They are a washable non-pilling polyester fabric with a narrow leg and a slit accent on the ankle, side zipper and all smooth on front and back.  I bought these on clearance from Stein Mart a few years ago.  Amazon has the Ellen Tracy side zip pants here!  Good quality black pants that fit well are essential to your wardrobe, I will pay a bit more for ones that will last forever.  I have had mine for so long I can’t remember when I got them.  Shopping link for the pants is below:

I always say that cheetah goes with everything, LOL.  Don’t be afraid to mix when it is something subtle like my cheetah Fitbit band, I left it on for all of the looks in this mustard yellow series since it is a neutral piece and goes along for the ride without much distraction.  The third look below has a description and shopping link for the gladiator sandals.

Mustard Yellow with the Third Piece

Adding the third piece black cardigan gives you multiple options with basic outfits.  For the office, this cardigan adds more structure to the mustard yellow outfit while still being soft and comfortable.  Today’s look is also a good example of simple mix and match dressing and is how I also pack for a trip.  I take very little when I travel, but am sure to have third piece options, plus a couple of tops with basic bottoms, a few pieces of fun jewelry, along with two pair of shoes in addition to what I wear upon departure.  Cardigan shopping link below:

Black and White Works with Mustard Yellow

You can never go wrong by adding classic black and white to a focal color.  Adding the scarf brings a refreshing soft element to the mustard yellow and creates a nice contrast.  I have had the scarf for a while, but have found a similar option for you here at Amazon.  A scarf instead of a necklace is a nice way to add options to your outfits and break up the brightness of this blouse.  The black gladiator wedge sandals are older by Naturalizer.  I found a similar option for you by Aerosoles here at Amazon.

You can read about my dive into reading glasses and these fashion reading glasses in the Day #2 post of this mustard yellow series HERE.  What a fun find for a set of 3 pair on Amazon!  This time, I have chosen the neutral Tortoise Shell Bottom Reading Glasses for this tailored look.

And again, adding the third piece black cardigan along with the scarf gives soft structure to this mustard yellow look as well.

  1. Love the black pants with side zip…having a go-to pair of black slacks is right up there with the little black dress! Great ideas!

Yes, Candi! And these black pants are styled to always be current, not too skinny and not too loose, right in the middle. They will last many more years for me! Thanks so much for visiting 🙂
