Mustard Yellow, Bumping up the Basics
Today is Day 2 of “How to Wear Mustard Yellow for Fall” — If you missed Day 1 of this series, you can view that post HERE.
The focus piece for this mustard yellow series is this basic blouse for Fall that works for all body types, the blouse is from Amazon with shopping link below. It is a nice length with a flattering rounded hemline with the tied 3/4 sleeves adding an extra accent of style. It is a soft crepe type fabric and has one small button at the back of the neck for easy on and off, allowing plenty of room to not mess up your hair and makeup.

(Note: The mustard blouse is back in stock! It does sell out off and on, so act quickly — ORDER UP ONE SIZE since the fabric has only a slight stretch)
Mustard Yellow with the Third Piece
Adding the third piece olive jacket immediately adds more structure to this look. Even though it tones down the mustard yellow blouse, it still allows it to be showcased as the overall accent color. Olive and mustard work together due to the warm gold undertone that they share.
An Anorak style jacket has become an essential third piece in today’s wardrobes. My jacket is a soft lightweight fashion piece made from polyester/rayon that I bought on sale at T. J. Maxx in early Summer. It is unlined with no hood, but is just enough for moderate to cool days and is an easy layering piece without bulk. I found a similiar and more versatile jacket on Amazon for you, shopping link is below. The Auline’ brand on Amazon is lined, has tabs for rolled sleeves plus a hood and snap detail pockets. It has an interesting design for two different necklines when zipped up versus zipped down, and there is also a drawstring around the waistline area that gives it flattering adjustable form and fit.
Mustard Yellow with Denim
This Day 2 outfit also features fray hem jeans that are still on trend. I am not a huge fan of really torn up, ripped knee jeans. I leave that for a much younger “hip” crowd. But, “lightly distressed” is good for us in that it is current yet still looks neat and not overdone with its own level of texture. These jeans are “Izzy Skinnies” by Michael Kors. I bought them on clearance at T.J. Maxx. All “skinnies” are cut differently from each designer. These are actually not the “hugging” type like the ones I have from Old Navy. You can see more slack in these, I would call them “straight” versus true “skinny”.
The suede sandal type bootie with chunky heal will also be the look for Fall. This shoe looks great with many different types of jeans and pants, especially when you are not needing a full boot and open sandal season is gone while we are transitioning to Fall.
Accessorizing Mustard Yellow
It may be hard to see with my hair, but I am wearing very similar blue fused glass earrings that I bought from an art show last weekend. They are very unique and not heavy on the ears. This pop of blue balances the look by bringing the eye up and playing off of the dark blue jeans. I found this handmade pair of fused glass earrings on Amazon for you:
I chose sleek silver tone metal accessories to cool down the mustard yellow and add sparkle and texture to this look. The silver tone concho belt and vintage-look reading pendant play off of the denim nicely for a casual chic feel. I found a similar belt on Amazon, as well as this pendant that I previously purchased from Amazon, shopping links are below:

Topping Off Mustard Yellow
Around two years ago, it finally hit me, BOOM! I needed reading glasses, ugh! I do wear contacts since I naturally cannot see past the tip of my nose and was going along just fine, until the words in all of my reading sprouted legs and started crawling around on the page, LOL. Since I need a very mild reading lens, just a 1.25 for now, I grabbed a few glasses from the dollar store in fun colors, including cheetah of course! But, I feel like the half glasses low on my nose make me look older. For more style, I found these fuller size glasses in a set of 3 on Amazon. They are a tortoise shell frame with a different fashion color around the bottom of the frames on each pair.
Another reason I do not like to wear reading glasses is because they magnify the lines under my eyes, I may do something about that soon, you’ll be the first to know — I am wearing the blue combo here — Great price point on Amazon in all strengths and many different color combo sets, shopping link below:
