Are we having fun yet? Hope you don’t find this featured image too goofy, but it is important to lighten up when we can, having fun is important! I am working on a few fashion posts for later this week. One is about multiple looks with the LBD (little black dress) and the other one is about what I wore as mother-of-the-bride and things to be mindful of at weddings.
My Daily Devotional for today was entitled “Let it Go!”, which is really up my alley these days. My last Flair Share post here about over 50 reinvention also touched on this topic, so I thought elaborating on letting things go and lightening up would be something we probably have in common. You finally get to meet my hubby, I call him Honey and Big T, but his name is Tim. This picture is from last year in St. Louis, Missouri, in the early stages of my beauty and fashion updates. This dress is the Adam Levine brand that I bought at K-Mart. I rarely buy clothing there, but this is a flowy nice quality fabric. It is a tad short, so I am wearing a pair of denim-look leggings with it here. Very comfortable and somewhat dressy, it is longer in the back than the front. We were having fun with a great dinner on our way to the Hall and Oates concert. Nothing stays the same, but the songs were still good and we had a great evening.
Honey still works full-time and our girls just became young adults, so we are learning how to relax more and add in more fun for ourselves while letting other things drop off, letting it go. We are both work-oriented, but I am letting go of things that are not a priority. Maintaining a house and large yard is never ending, but we cannot let it be our entire life and take up all of our spare time. We will be here a few more years, but are planning on a smaller home or an active over 50 community as long as there is plenty to do and we are near my friends who have already moved to those types of communities. We are having fun by travelling more with an annual bigger summer vacation and also weekend trips to the surrounding states.
We always have a good time when we visit with my older daughter and her husband (Lindsay and Paul) in St. Louis. They love living in the city while we live in a suburb of Atlanta, so it is a nice experience for us. They always have a full “itinerary” of things planned, so having fun with them is easy, they are very good hosts with lots of young energy! Paul is an engineer with Anheiser-Bush and Lindsay has her own digital media business with focus on branding and design for smaller start-up companies.
We visited St. Louis a few weeks ago and finally went up inside of the St. Louis Arch, the Gateway to the West. It was a tight little elevator, but was worth the few minutes of claustrophobia to be able to look out of the top and view the city. These pictures are actually from last year, but we couldn’t go inside of it since they were finishing a renovation project at the time.
Last year we also saw The Phantom of the Opera in Atlanta for the second time at the Fabulous Fox Theater. The first time was our favorite, but it is never a bad show. I have been told that it is a different experience every time you see it. We have friends who have seen it in several different countries and states. This particular performing company was excellent with special effects, set design and beautiful music. My younger daughter Sara had never seen it, so she also attended with us.
No, this is not a fur, ha! It is a fuzzy synthetic shrug type jacket. I enjoy wearing it to special events like this. It was one of those bargains that I picked up at a big Belk clearance sale. The top can be worn to just about any type of event. It is a double-layered chiffon type fabric with rhinestones around the neckline and is longer in the back than the front. I wore it with plain black leggings. All you really need to wear with it is a nice pair of earrings and possibly a bracelet.
Are you adding more fun things into your life and letting go of the things that are not absolutely necessary or don’t make you happy? Are you having fun yet? Let me know, I would like to here about things you enjoy doing, we need some ideas!

Lori Jo I loved your post today…you and your hubby are so darn cute! I chuckled when I seen the first picture with the clown nose on, I was expecting to see some circus pictures…lol…. I’m retired, so I seem to have fun everyday, between doing my chores, my hobbies and my grandchildren, always something to do ….my hubby is still working , so during the week he’s quite busy with his job and all the crazy mowing he does here, we still make time every Sunday after he finishes his game of golf to go for a drive, shopping and out for supper. I love that! Winter time is our most relaxed time, we go to Florida for the winter and do just whatever…..I love that too! Lol…..looking forward to your LBD series……. Have a wonderful day!
Hey, Kathy! Well, sometimes I feel like I AM in a circus, haha! I wish my hubby would start playing golf, I keep telling him to do that. We have always been “work first, fun later” folks, but too much “later” may be too late. I have become more flexible with routine and am encouraging him to have more fun, update on that soon! Thank you for visiting <3

Such a great message Lori Jo!!
It’s not always easy to let go of things, but lately we have found it to be so beneficial for our mental health. We downsized almost 3 years ago and got rid of our yard—it’s been such a relief to not have to worry about it anymore!!!
XOXO

We have been here for 19 years. In the beginning, hubby wanted a big yard because he loves(ed) yard work, I would like to see him enjoying another activity just for himself, like golf. I felt guilty for splurging on things like that for a long time, I’m over it now, ha! He is 5 years younger than I am, he needs to catch up! Thank you for visiting <3

Hi Lori Jo it is great getting to know you better and also meet your family. Midlife and beyond is all about letting go and accepting that this is your time to enjoy life to the full. Great message and have a lovely day.

Hi Lori – Lovely learning a bit more about you and your family. It looks like you’re both doing a great job of sliding neatly into Midlife and all it has to offer. Great photos of you and your husband and lovely to see you enjoying so many outings together – he obviously isn’t too tied to his job – he seems to be able to let things go too and have some fun.
Hi, Leanne! Mr. Tim is getting better about relaxing and planning things, I am still working on him, we can be opposites at times, ha! He will need to line up some activities for retirement, for sure. Talk soon!
Enjoyed the post. It is a good reminder to just chill out and enjoy life!
Glad you enjoyed the post! I am still a work in progress, but much happier to start relaxing and putting my energy where it needs to be. I saw where you are a vet! We have had three precious pekingese over the years in succession, they all lived to be 12 to 15 years old. Such a human bond with them, I cannot have another one, ever. I am getting too old for such a heartbreak every time. We lost Lily just 2 years ago, so feeble, blind and deaf, down to bones and pills keeping her going. Just so hard – I admire you and your profession! Hope to visit again soon 🙂

I am having fun too! Nice to meet you and the family.
Hey there, Haralee! Thanks so much for visiting the post, I have just discovered the Facebook page today and wanted to share and get acquainted. I have only been blogging for about 3 months, so much to learn! Hope to see you again soon 🙂
