Are you afraid to wear certain colors, or much color at all? Do you wear a lot of black because it is the safe color or because it is just the easiest thing to throw on? I am telling you today, STOP IT! You heard me, just STOP IT! LOL! Fresh, rich colors are our friend in fashion, especially as we age. Color near the face brightens and brings your eyes and skin tone alive. Next to wearing some type of makeup, it is the best thing we can do for ourselves, so embrace color! One of the best colors to start with is a coral. Coral looks good on everyone whether your hair and skin are dark or light. It adds a refreshing glow to your whole look and is a welcoming color to wear; coral is a happy color. Pick a coral that is not too orange-y or too pink-y, we are going for a deep peach tone.
How to Wear Coral and Embroidery
Embroidery and tie tops are HUGE this season. The tie top style suits a range of ages and body types. This top is flattering because it is mid-hip and a lightweight cotton blend fabric that hangs softly with the tie providing a fun detail. The edge of this coral top has a soft elastic band that keeps it in place. I bought this top at T. J. Maxx a few months ago. I found some options on Amazon for you if you feel like you need more length and coverage. A Renaissance-style option is here on Amazon. A tunic style option is here on Amazon. An embroidery with sequin style is here on Amazon.
Coral and Embroidery Accessorizing
A small amount of embroidery as accent is just enough to add texture and personality to this top. I chose to pull out the turquoise color in the flowers with my jewelry. I made the earrings and bracelet which will be offered in my Etsy shop soon, Designs by Lori Jo. I bought the necklace on our trip to Mt. Rushmore last summer. This necklace was in a shop out in the Badlands, what a great trip it was!
Versatile Mid-rise Skinny jeans
These jeans are from Old Navy. They are the Mid-Rise Super Skinny style. They have plenty of stretch, do not let the word “skinny” throw you off, they are comfortable and almost feel like yoga pants. Old Navy has many styles and washes to choose from at a great price point. Try on several cuts at your local store to decide which works best for you. They also have great sales online.
Be adventurous and add some color to your wardrobe, you’ll be glad you did – don’t be afraid of color, it will open up a whole new world of fashion and style for you!
