Georgia seems to have finally eased into more pleasant weather.  Just in time for lighter weight colorful clothing for Cinco de Mayo!  Honey and  I went out to dinner with our longtime neighbors, Dick and Nancy, last Friday night for festivities at “Azul Tequila Taqueria & Cantina” here in Peachtree City.  Great food and they had live music for the occasion.  Did you know that Honey and I always celebrate in full-out native attire?  Cinco De Mayo, Red Striped Top, Over 50 Fashion, White Jeans

NOT…..! Ha!  Gotcha, I’m a sucker for the face-in-the-hole props every time!  But I did wear this:

Over 50 fashion, red striped blouse, white jeans, red square heel sandal, spring fashion, summer fashion

This red striped top is a lightweight gauze material that I bought from Target a few weeks ago.  It is a relaxed fit with above elbow short bell sleeves, square neckline and rounded hemline. Red Lifestride Sandals with Square Heel, Over 50 Fashion SandalsI have had the sandals for a couple of years, they are “Rayana” by Life Stride with light support. I found similar styles here and here on Amazon.  I am trying white toenail polish for the first time, I like it for a clean look with the white jeans.

Over 50 Fashion, Red striped blouse from Target, white super skinny jeans from Old Navy, red sandals from Lifestride

My favorite white jeans are the Mid-Rise Super Skinny style from Old Navy.  They have plenty of stretch and are comfortable. I did go up one size to have a smooth look, but probably could have stayed with my actual size.   They do relax after wearing for a few hours.  I rolled up the cuffs one roll for a dressier look with sandals.  More skin showing above the ankle makes your legs look longer and leaner.  I struggle with being 5’1″, a taller look helps with looking balanced.

Over 50 Fashion, chunky gold fashion necklace, white jeans from Old Navy

I zoomed in on the necklace to show you how I doubled up the long chain to make it a shorter length.   It shows off more of the blouse.  Honey gave me this fashion necklace for Christmas two years ago; I thought it was too bulky but it has become my favorite now.  It goes with everything and can be worn long or short. I may try it as a statement bracelet wrapped three times.  Necklace is from Lizard Thicket.  Earrings are from Versona.  Bracelet is from Avon a few years ago.

Over 50 Fashion, Red stripe blouse, white skinny jeans from Old Navy, red life stride sandals, wooden box handbag

A looser blouse like this can be worn in the front tuck style.  Give that a try for a younger, trendy look.  It is flattering and makes your waist look slimmer while still draping softly around hips and sides of the waist.  Many of us often prefer some  camouflage in those areas.  Over 50 Fashion, Red stripe blouse, white skinny jeans from Old Navy, red life stride sandals, wooden box handbagLast but not least, this vintage wooden box handbag came from my mother a long, long time ago.  I like the exotic look, but really have not used it, it is more of a keepsake. She worked at a boutique in Naples, Florida in the 1970’s and enjoyed unusual accessories.  The only place I could find it recently was on eBay, they are quite pricey now since they are vintage. Do you know of this brand and enjoy unusual handbags such as this?

Hey, Kathleen – Thank you, so glad that you are enjoying the blog content and my style inspirations, it should get better and better as I fine tune things behind the scenes! I am actually closer to 60, can’t believe it, 58 in August, yikes! I was concerned that the big “5-0” in “50 With Flair” was like a blinding light, but it is easy to read and remember and something we all connect with. Lots of interaction so far for just one week tomorrow. I am still working on taking better photographs with my new 35mm digital camera, another learning curve. I am awaiting approvals on becoming an affiliate with a few more retailers to make shopping easier for everyone. Sometimes it is a waiting period for new bloggers like me. The live links that I scatter through the text right now are with Amazon. As an affiliate, I earn a few cents from anyone using my links then buying at their website whether or not it is that exact item, nothing extra added to the customer at all and it helps pay for my blog expenses, so I am operating as a business that will grow over time. It helps me stay current with technology and keeps my brain sharp and engaged, albeit a challenge right now while I am still learning. Thank you again, see you on the blog! 🙂

  2. LOVE this outfit. And the way you show it tucked in and out. I haven’t gotten the knack of just tucking a top into the front of pants, but I’m going to try it. I also didn’t know that showing a bit of skin above the ankle elongates the leg. That’s great to know. And you did all of this on a budget anyone can afford. Thank you!!

So glad you like it, Barbara! It is fun to tweak a few things to be current for a more youthful, fun look. I am awaiting approval from Old Navy to use their affiliate links to make shopping good deals and current styles easier through my blog for all of my “Flair Seekers”, stay tuned!
