Travelling Blue Ridge, Georgia – Day 3: Farewell If you missed Day 1 of our trip to Blue Ridge, Georgia, you can visit that post here.   And, if you missed Day 2 of our trip, you can visit that post here.  Travelling Blue Ridge, Georgia wouldn’t be complete without me showing you my going home travel outfit, so here are two more “aerial photos” by Big T, LOL.  This is in the lobby of our hotel as we were leaving and he was in a hurry for me to “get out of the way”; again, I embarrass him in public, ha! Do not miss my “After Dinner Story” near the end of this post. Comfort comes first for travelling in the car.  This is just a basic lime green t-shirt I have had for a while along with my Old Navy super skinny white jeans.  I had to wear my new…

Travelling Blue Ridge, Georgia – Day 2: Shopping If you missed Day 1 of our trip to Blue Ridge, Georgia, you can visit that post here.  Travelling Blue Ridge, Georgia wouldn’t be complete without a full day of shopping!  I promised you a picture of the fun shirt I bought on Day 1 of our trip — I wore the shirt on Day 2 for our side trip to  the Mountain Fling Art and Craft Show in the neighboring city of Blairsville, Georgia.  Read my previous post on Day 1 about this shirt here  –  I bought it on Day 1 of our trip and you can purchase one for yourself here. Travelling Blue Ridge, Georgia – Day 2:  Mountain Fling The Mountain Fling Art and Craft Show in the neighboring city of Blairsville, Georgia, was a short 20-minute drive of more beautiful scenery and something unique in addition to…

Travelling Blue Ridge, Georgia Big T and I had a great time on our 2-day weekend getaway where we spent the weekend travelling Blue Ridge, Georgia.  I will detail the trip on each of my post days this week.  If you missed the first post with details about my travelling outfit on Day 1, you can read that here.  Here is a link to the Blue Ridge, Georgia information page.  Book early for a fun trip! Blue Ridge is about 2-1/2 hours north from where we live in Peachtree City, Georgia.  It is an easy road trip which provides a change of scenery as you drive up into the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Georgia.  It was instantly 10 degrees cooler with no humidity which was a nice change of temperature along with clean, cool breezy air.   We had 11:00 a.m. reservations for the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway that continues travelling…

Summer Travelling Outfit You may remember my post on Monday of this week.  I was singin’ the blues and all wrapped up in the cloak of darkness.  I even shed a few tears while trudging heavily and feeling 50 shades of down-in-the-dumps.  Well, I am here to tell you that I worked through most of that stuff with an added bonus – Big T came through, he was listening this time!  That’s right, he set up a weekend trip for just the two of us to the North Georgia mountains, a 2-night getaway!  I already have my summer travelling outfit on and we are leaving bright and early this morning for the quaint  mountain town of Blue Ridge, Georgia – I am so happy to be hitting the road, getting the heck out of Dodge, heading to them thar hills…. you get my drift — Yippee ki yay, here we come! …

Long Black Dress Basics It is hot, hot, hot here in Georgia today – Beautiful sunshine and humid with a projected high of 94 degrees!  The first official day of Summer is tomorrow, so it is right on time.  We do not live near a beach, but memories of my childhood and home town of Naples, Florida always bubble up stronger this time of year.  And, memories of the hottest vacation we have ever had, on a cruise.  Which brings me to today’s post about styling a long black dress.   This is the black sundress that I took on our cruise a few summers ago.  This style is an exception for me since I am not one to show a lot of skin.  It just feels too revealing and “skimpy”, as my mother would have said.   I will not name the cruise line, but we were trying it out to…

I have decided that it is more important to share something with you today than to post my most recent fashion photos. That will have to be posted on Wednesday.  I will be escaping the house this morning for some sunshine and activity – sometimes the walls want to close in just a little bit too much.  The Cloak is visiting me. The Cloak of Darkness I woke up wearing an invisible accessory piece that is just not my style.  Unfortunately, it cannot be returned to the This-is-Life Boutique.  The Cloak of Darkness is all sales final, so it is up to me to figure out what to do with it.   I know that buying into life comes with the highs and lows, good and bad, fun and sad, it is all just part of the whole deal.  I am not talking about full-blown depression, if any of us get to…

Getting Down to Basics with the Little Black Dress There are so many ways to style a classic little black dress, or the LBD as they say in the fashion world.  This is the most basic black dress that I have.  There are many more ways to change this dress but this post would have been huge!  I actually have four other black dresses that have different details worked into them that I may show in the future.  Monday’s post will be about a basic long black dress and the looks you can get for some interesting options, so stay tuned for that. This dress is a t-shirt style made from knit fabric and is actually a tad short for me.  I found a similar style here on Amazon for you that comes in all sizes from Small to 3X.  You know how self-conscious I am about my chalky vein-y…

My older daughter, Lindsay, was married in September of 2016 and was 25 at that time.  She is a modern, young career woman living in St. Louis with her husband and two cattle dogs.  They are career minded, do a lot of travelling and enjoy what big cities have to offer.  They especially love New York City and chose this as their interactive destination wedding location.  We were thrilled when they announced their engagement, followed shortly by her telling me, “Mom, for my wedding, I don’t want anything Southern!  No barns, no country clubs, no big ball gown, not a church…  I want it to be unique and memorable with just our closest friends and immediate families, I want to get married at New York City City Hall and walk the streets of New York with our entire wedding party…”  So this is what we did!  I told her our…

Are we having fun yet?  Hope you don’t find this featured image too goofy, but it is important to lighten up when we can, having fun is important!  I am working on a few fashion posts for later this week.  One is about multiple looks with the LBD (little black dress) and the other one is about what I wore as mother-of-the-bride and things to be mindful of at weddings. My Daily Devotional for today was entitled “Let it Go!”, which is really up my alley these days.  My last Flair Share post here about over 50 reinvention also touched on this topic, so I thought elaborating on letting things go and lightening up would be something we probably have in common.   You finally get to meet my hubby, I call him Honey and Big T, but his name is Tim.  This picture is from last year in St. Louis,…

We made it to Friday, woo-hoo!  This has been the adjustment week for my blogging schedule.  May 1st was my launch day, so my blog is just 5 weeks old this week.  I decided that I have been a really tough boss on myself and that I am really hard to work for, LOL.  So, I am changing to a new schedule of posting on just Monday, Wednesday and Friday instead of 6 days per week.  This should be more comfortable for me and you will receive just three e-mails each week.  During this adjustment, I also want to share more of my thoughts and feelings about being over 50 in addition to the focus being on fashion and beauty.  I am wearing this dressy casual red, white and dark navy outfit today for shopping and lunch with my younger daughter — fingers crossed for no rain!   Dressy Casual Red,…
